The things to focus on when your thoughts consume you

Does a day go by without you thinking about a lot of things? Yours might even be little things or a single thought that may not only be harmful to you but to those around you.

From one exposure to another, our minds, like mirrors, reflect whatever object stands before it. Just like an empty slate, as every day passes by, a lot of things are being written down on the pages of our minds from what we see, hear, feel or touch.

Oftentimes you might even come across pieces of information either in graphics, songs, spoken words, articles, videos, and all which you never planned to. It might even be an event that might have occurred in the past. It can also be a fear of what would happen tomorrow. At such times what do you choose to focus on?

Think on these things

Are they true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report? These should be the yardstick you should set for each of your thoughts. They are God’s words and surely have stood the test of time.

God is interested in your life, even your mental health, and He, through His word in Philippians 4:7, has set a boundary for your thought. It’s that simple, true, and powerful.

At those moments where you get disturbed and depressed over the thoughts running through your mind, just remember this and let go of those thoughts.

To what do you expose yourself? Who do you listen to, what books do you read, what movies do you watch? What about the songs you listen to? Each of these things contributes to your thought pattern, and indeed you ought to be conscious of them.

Replace those lies with God’s word. Keep confessing them till they become a part of you.

Remember!

Proverbs 4:23 TPT

So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.
