Memories

Were there times you sat still and then a sound from the past played joyfully in your heart? Was it that time you spent alone and then a memory of yesterday flashed through your mind reflecting in your facial expression? Maybe you smiled or frowned. Who knows if all you could remember was pain, guilt or anguish. It’s never late, new memories can be formed.

From one act to another, little by little we implant certain ideas, perspective, images and seeds into the lives of those we meet. Be it bad or good, one day it will spring forth and bear fruits.

At such times, our presence may not be seen but surely they are felt. A blessing or a curse? Which would you prefer to be said of you?

Sometimes ago a song popped up in my mind. It was one of those songs by “destiny kids”. When I decided to sing it out it was so funny to me. Others who were around me would have laughed and smiled.

At a point in time, you hear people say; “if you haven’t watched that movie you are not my mate”. Sometimes it’s even the use of materials like the Elegance pen, Okin biscuit, Dele juice, Ekana Abacha, Sweet milk, old-time toys and that white metal cooler. What about the slate our parents said we never used?

They all pulled a string in our minds and caused us to smile. All these things were objects that proved they were more than objects.

Bringing this down to you. What memories have you created in time past? Are there chances that they were that of pain and hurt? What steps have you taken to give joy to those you hurt? To you, you may be walking freely, to the offended it still hurts.

Proverbs 10:7

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

What memories are you making now for tomorrow? If by chance your name is mentioned before someone in a far land, won’t someone speak ill of certain things you have done? Who knows if it’s your stand or your decisions.

Little by little, your words, acts, conversations, purity, spirituality and all will all matter and speak for you. What are you doing about it?

Some memories might be hurting depending on the extent of the harm caused. Should this affect you, there’s a way out.

Matthew 11:28

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Those were the words of Jesus to help at times when we are burdened by the hurting memories of our past. He still listens.

Your past can be healed and your present restored. With today joyful memories can still be formed.

So, the next time you meet someone to try and give them a gift of a good memory. Who knows, it can be a smile or a lifting word. Just think about it. It’s there within you.

          1. You’ve earned it so take it please. I was just going through your blog and I just thought that you have a special way with words. It’s so enthralling.

  1. Please what is Ekana Abacha?
This post made me stop, think and laugh, lol.
    Thank you Yinka.
And I love the blog’s new look too♥

    1. 😂 Ekana Abacha happened to be one of those Ijekuje items bought then in primary school few years ago. It’s composition was majorly sugar which was thickened and caramelized wrapped in a paper and a cut straw underneath it. Then, about 90% of the pupils always rushed for it and fought to buy it in numbers after school closes. 😂 Who knows why it was called ( Abacha’s nail). At least it was like the smallest finger with a sharp pointed mouth.
Don’t worry I will send you a picture

I’m glad the post did make you like that.

      You are welcome 🤗

      Waow, Thanks.

  2. We are designed to make positive impacts on the lives of everyone who crosses our part. People ought to be able to think about us in retrospect and bless God for having come in contact with us. This is profound bro

  3. You are such a phenomenal writer. I remember when I had a mentor, this was always his mantra, now, my mantra is that our lives are stories everyone gets to read, so be the best story you can be so that when the time comes for it to be remembered it’ll remembered as a good one.

    1. Wow!
      I’m glad to hear that.
      That’s a very good one.
Exactly! I love the way you summed it up.
That’s the way we should live.
Thanks so much for checking out on the blog ☺️.
I’m very happy that you expressed this out. Others will see this and also learn from it.
