What comes to your mind whenever the word entitlement is said, read, or heard? Often times more than you ever heard the word, “entitlement” don’t you feel certain things belong to you when they actually don’t?
Here’s a short story I would love to share with you.
… There were two friends, Arthur and Leon living together. They had been roommates since their junior class. For a while, they had done things together. They were of good support to each other and the people around them.
In their school which they both attended, they were known for academic excellence and good morals. They just had that bond that held them so close.
While they were playing around with their schoolmates on the field, Arthur fell and had a fraction affecting his left arm.
He was rushed to the school clinic and then it was taken care of. The doctor who attended to him instructed him to be more careful and to avoid things that could cause more stress to his left arm and delay the healing process.
Leon, a kind and gentle one was of great help and support to his friend Arthur. For about two weeks, he helped Arthur in carrying most of his loads. These included his bags, textbooks, and other heavy items. All these he did with a kind heart.
One day, as they were about rushing to school for a class, Leon forgot to help his friend Arthur with some of his loads. As he hurried out of the room, he had his name called angrily by Arthur. While he returned, he was surprised by the reaction of Arthur who scolded him and said “with my left arm, do you expect me to carry this bag?”. His countenance expressed his ingratitude for all that had been done for him.
It wasn’t fair on the part of Leon, who was surprised at what he just heard. Sincerely, had it been you who heard that, what would you have done?
That certain things were done for you doesn’t mean that you had the right to them. Although, this doesn’t mean that you do not have rights. What happens when you lose sight of the stress people have to go for your sake?
What about those times you refused to show gratitude for the daily things done for you. That you get some things daily doesn’t mean that they are yours. Despising the good things done for and to you will leave you in an unpleasant state than you imagine.
Speaking of God and the number of ways you have received His mercy and love, haven’t you thought it was God’s responsibility to do them while you keep living your life like you were entitled to them.
Even the Bible admonishes us to receive with thanksgiving and to express gratitude in our requests.
Philippians 4:6
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
Be grateful and always be thankful. It’s a privilege that shouldn’t be taken for granted. Be open-minded and see the numbers of things done for you which you never merited.

Wow, this is a beautiful piece.
Sometimes we don’t see and offer gratitude for people’s kind gestures and act up when they don’t due to circumstances.
Thanks 🤭
Exactly 🥺
I’m glad you got the message ☺
Such a beautiful reminder to always be thankful. The story just made it so much more clear how we can take for granted those blessings and mercies we receive.
Yeah 😄 💯

Wonderful!!
We await the next post.
Thanks 🤭
Maybe Arthur got so angry because his mild situation makes him do so. Leon was supporting him for so long time when no one helped him. So, I think Arthur must feel guilty after this event and apologised for his mistake. A true friendship never dies.👍
Hmmmm 🤔
He must feel guilty after this event and apologized for his mistake. It sure will help keep the relationship.
